Welcome back dear readers,
while we were thinking about a new topic for this article we got hungry, so we decided to tell you something about the typical Tuscan food.
The meals of this area are the most tasty and genuine in Italy, vegetables are very important and that’s why Tuscany can be a paradise also for vegetarian people, but there are also many delicious recipes pasta and meat based.
Would you like to discover some handmade specialities?
THE PICI: is a special type of pasta, it is usually handmade by Tuscan grandmothers.
This pasta has ancient origins, in fact it is said that during the second world war, Tuscan people couldn’t reach many raw materials because of the poverty and the famine, so women created Pici because it needed only 2 ingredients: water and flour.
This pasta has a very particular shape so that it can’t be cooked uniformly, that’s the secret of its unique taste.
THE CROSTINI TOSCANI: are usually served as an appetizer and consist in slices of backed Tuscan bread (without salt) sprinkled with a delicious sauce made of bovine liver.
Even if you are not properly liver lovers we assure you that it is one of the best food that you have ever eaten.
THE PAPPA AL POMODORO: the meal is part of the rural tradition, in fact it has few ingredients that are: stale bread (to reduce waste), fresh tomatoes and olive oil.
The papa al Pomodoro represents the simplicity and the goodness, you can’t miss it!
SALUMI E FORMAGGI (COLD CUTS AND CHEESE): these two meals are landmarks of Tuscan tradition, in particular you can find the best chees in Pienza that is known, apart from its beauty, to have a chees smell, which is perceptible from every alleyway of this town.
Talking about cold cuts, you can find the best ones in the beautiful Val DI Chiana, where is also located the famous city of Cortona, here there are many swine and bovine farms.
THE BISTECCA CHIANINA: maybe you have already tasted a steak, but the Chianina steak has a unique taste.
The Tuscan farmers feed the Chianina cows since many years, giving them the best food, ensuring that they can have a happy and heathy life. To produce good meat you have to respect the animals.

Our culinary voyage has come to an end my dear readers and as always, has been a pleasure telling you something more about our territory.
